Je tiens particulièrement à remercier les éditions Librinova et le site Netgalley de m'avoir permis de lire ce livre.
L'histoire se déroule à Florence en 1478. Dans les terres pontificales italiennes on y retrouve Sixte IV qui est un vieux pape guerrier et Laurent de Médicis un tyran mécène et tout les opposent. Ils vont se confronter à coups d'anathèmes, de complots, de missions secrètes et d'assassinats et cela sera sans trêve et sans pitié. Ils vont s'acharner à retrouver un écrit qui est nuisible au pontife. Cela entrainera passions, menaces et trahisons. Pendant ce temps là bien cachés dans l'ombre Rodrigo Borgia futur Alexandre VI et Louis XI roi de France un peu vieux observeront ces jeux cruels.
Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché à l'histoire si prenante, captivante, addictive, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages attachants.

The story takes place in Florence in 1478. In the Italian pontifical lands we find Sixtus IV who is an old warrior pope and Lorenzo de Medici a tyrant patron of the arts and everything opposes them. They will confront each other with anathemas, plots, secret missions and assassinations and it will be without truce and without pity. They are going to try to find a written document that is harmful to the pontiff. This will lead to passions, threats and betrayals. Meanwhile, well hidden in the shadows Rodrigo Borgia future Alexander VI and Louis XI king of France a little old will observe these cruel games.
A book read in one go, so much so I hung on to the story so engaging, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists with endearing characters.
