Summary :
Melissa, a shy teenage girl, feels lost in a transnational high society world that drives her to the depths of despair. But her attraction to the very human Kasho, who has snippets of philosophy to impart, eventually enables her to develop her own strengths.
But Kasho doesn't dwell physically on Earth.
Melissa's realistic story traverses class, gender, and power dynamics. She is expected to walk, or is bullied into walking, a certain path required of her class, including marrying a certain man. It's only when she connects with Kasho, a native man whose values are in-line with hers, that she finds a kindred spirit who truly sees her.
In an age of bullying and teen suicide, the resonating lesson throughout the story is "There is always a way of making your life better." But how will she and her best friend, Daisy, find it?

Melissa, une adolescente timide, se sent perdue dans un monde transnational de la haute société qui la conduit au plus profond du désespoir. Mais son attirance pour le très humain Kasho, qui a des bribes de philosophie à transmettre, lui permet finalement de développer ses propres forces.

L'histoire réaliste de Melissa traverse les dynamiques de classe, de genre et de pouvoir. On attend d'elle qu'elle marche, ou qu'elle soit poussée à marcher, un certain chemin exigé de sa classe, y compris celui d'épouser un certain homme. Ce n'est que lorsqu'elle se lie avec Kasho, un homme autochtone dont les valeurs sont en accord avec les siennes, qu'elle trouve une âme sœur qui la voit vraiment.
À une époque marquée par l'intimidation et le suicide des adolescents, la leçon qui résonne tout au long de l'histoire est la suivante : "Il y a toujours un moyen d'améliorer sa vie". Mais comment elle et sa meilleure amie, Daisy, vont-elles le trouver ?

Je tiens à remercier le site Booksprout, l'auteure et les éditions Austin Macauley Publishers LLC de m'avoir permis de lire ce livre.
J'ai de suite été attiré par la magnifique couverture de ce livre où l'on y voit Melissa et sa meilleure amie Daisy de dos.
On y retrouve la jeune ado Melissa de caractère plutôt timide qui se sent perdue dans se monde de la haute société. Elle nage en plein désespoir. Elle est attirée par un humain : Kasho qui veux transmettre une de ses passions la philosophie. Mais il y a un hic, il n'habite pas tout à fait sur Terre. Ce n'est qu'une fois que leur amour sera lié qu'il verra en elle comme dans un livre ouvert qui elle est vraiment. Melissa et sa meilleure amie Daisy vont tenter de le trouver.
Un livre lu d'une seule traite tellement j'ai accroché de suite à l'histoire si émouvante à certains passages, captivante, addictive, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages attachants.

I was immediately drawn to the beautiful cover of the book, which features Melissa and her best friend Daisy on the back.
It features the shy young teenage Melissa who feels lost in the world of high society. She is swimming in despair. She is attracted by a human: Kasho who wants to transmit one of her passions : philosophy. But there's a snag, he doesn't quite live on Earth. It is only once their love is bound that he will see in her as in an open book who she really is. Melissa and her best friend Daisy will try to find him.
A book read in one go, so much so that I immediately hooked on the story, so moving in some passages, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters.
