A few words about the author :

David Bradwell is the author of the Anna Burgin series of mystery thrillers.

He lives in Hitchin in Hertfordshire in the UK, although he's originally from the north east. When he's not writing the series (which largely involves lots of late nights and candles) He run a hosiery retail company and - when opportunity permits - indulge in a bit of screen acting.

Summary :

In "Cold Press" :
It's the winter of 1993, and Clare Woodbrook is the enigmatic head of the Special Investigations Department at Britain's leading daily tabloid. Her exposés are legendary, but she's not without her enemies. Now, on the verge of unveiling her biggest ever scoop, she arranges to meet her researcher Danny Churchill, to reveal all over lunch.

But Clare never shows, and later that night her car is found abandoned on the hard shoulder of the M25. Worse still, the police investigation is being headed up by DCI Graham March - the embodiment of police corruption and the subject of one of Clare's current investigations.

Danny sets out to find Clare, and enlists the help of his spiky flatmate - fashion photographer Anna Burgin. But they soon realise that nobody can be trusted - especially the police. As the search becomes ever more desperate, suddenly their own lives are very much on the line.

In "Out of Red" :
Packed with twists and dark humour, Out Of the Red is book two in the Anna Burgin series and the electrifying sequel to Cold Press – the Amazon number 1bestseller.

It's 1994 and Investigative journalist Danny Churchill is hot on the trail of Graham March – the disgraced former police DCI.

The investigation takes him to Germany where he soon starts to uncover dark secrets and new depths of depravity.

Back in London, and aided by his flatmate – fashion photographer Anna Burgin – Danny’s investigation intensifies, but as he gets closer to the truth, the body count starts to rise. Help is offered from the most unlikely of sources, but if Danny accepts, is he doing a deal with the devil herself?

In "Fade to silence" :
You know you've got problems when being hunted by a Serbian hitman is the least of your worries...

Balkan gangsters, corporate spies and a fugitive killer are all on the loose in London, but when a body shows up, all of the evidence points to the victim's wife.

Is it a domestic dispute, or part of a much bigger conspiracy? Fresh from suspension for alleged corruption, DCI Graham March seems far too eager to close the case.

Despite being warned off by his editor, journalist Danny Churchill wants to find the truth - and enlists the help of his flatmate: fashion photographer Anna Burgin. But when an old friend gets involved, and reports emerge of a huge shipment of weapons heading to the UK, it soon becomes their most complex, dangerous and action-packed investigation so far.

And as Danny and Anna get closer to the facts, the more the odds seem terrifyingly stacked against them.

Dans "Out of Red" :

Dans "Fade to silence" :

My mind :

I would like to thank the author and the Booksprout site for allowing me to read this trilogy. I look forward to reading the whole series.

In the first book: "Cold Press", the story takes place in winter 1993. It features Clare who is in charge of the British Investigation Department. She has enemies and is about to reveal a big scoop to a researcher Danny Churchill. But during the night her car is found abandoned on a hard shoulder. Danny and his photographer roommate Anna Burgin will try to find her. And as their investigation continues, they're going to have to trust that they're on their own.

In the second book: "Out of Red": the story takes place in 1994 one year after the events of the first book. Danny is an investigative journalist, he is looking for a disgraced former policeman Graham March. He will travel to Germany, where he will discover a lot of well-kept secrets. Once back in London with Anna Burgin, the investigation is going to be extended with deaths.

In the third book: "Fade to silence": we find Graham March who wants at all costs to backtrack the investigation of Balkan gangsters, spies and a killer on the run in London. Warned by his editor Danny still wants to investigate with Anna Burgin. Their investigation will lead them to a shipment of arms bound for the UK.

A trilogy that I loved to read so much I hung on to each book with such a gripping, captivating, addictive story, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters.
