Summary :

Two books in one

In Saving Zoe Echo has seen better days. Her parents ignore her, too busy sinking into depression, her childhood friends turn away from her, and her high school entrance doesn't bode well for her.

But how can she come to exist when the memory of her sister, Zoé, murdered a year earlier, continues to haunt her?

When she gets her hands on her sister's diary, she discovers, through the pages, the secrets that her sister has always wanted to hide. And, between the lines, the only way for Echo to reconstruct herself?

In Facking 19, On Appearance, Alex, 17 years old, makes her do it; she is beautiful and smart. Plus, she's best friends with M., the most popular girl in school. Bored in their chic suburban town of Orange County, Alex and M. decide to go to the L.A. nightlife scene.

Pretending to be 19 years old, Alex and M. meet Trevor and Connor, two rich, older men. At first, Alex can't believe her luck: she finds herself at the trendy Hollywood parties and clubs in downtown L.A. Those weekends in the city become the perfect distraction for Alex, who secretly struggles with her poor senior grades, her absent father and her distraught mother.

But, once the initial fun has worn off for Alex, she is forced to re-evaluate her friendship with M., who hides a few secrets under his perfect Burberry-clad exterior...

My review :

I've been wanting to read these two books for so long now, I love the author's addictive writing.

In It's necessary to save Zoe, we find Echo who is left behind by her parents who are in depression, her friends are moving away from her and she is not thriving in high school.

How can she cope with the memory of her sister murdered a year earlier? She'll get her hands on her diary and stumble upon the well-kept secrets her sister had. And that may well help Echo rebuild.

In Facking 19, we find Alex who at 17 is beautiful and smart and his best friend is M the most famous girl in school. In Orange County they get bored and decide to go to a night scene in Los Angeles. They will lie about their age by pretending to be 19 years old and meet Trevor and Connor, two rich men. Alex is going to believe herself as in a dream with the trendy Hollywoood parties, the clubs of L.A. These famous weekends will distract her and change her ideas with her bad grades in senior year, an absent father and her disoriented mother. But in the end she will find out that M is hiding a lot of things from her.

Two books read in a short time, so much so that I hung on to the story, so moving in certain passages, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.
