Gun Brooke resides in the countryside in Sweden with her very patient family. A retired neonatal intensive care nurse, she now writes full time, only rarely taking a break to create web sites for herself or others and to do computer graphics. Gun writes both romances and sci-fi. She is the recipient of the 2009 Alice B. Medal for "body of work."

Infirmière en soins intensifs néonatals à la retraite, elle écrit maintenant à plein temps, ne prenant que rarement une pause pour créer des sites web pour elle-même ou pour d'autres et pour faire de l'infographie. Summary :
World famous violinist Gail Owen is devastated after a car accident leaves her unable to play her beloved instrument. She withdraws from her privileged life to an old farmhouse in Rhode Island.
Romi Shepherd is homeless in New York City and barely survives by singing for pennies in the subway. After being wrongfully arrested, she hitchhikes back to Rhode Island and, out of money and options, hides in a secret room in the house she grew up in, unaware that the new owner is about to move in permanently.
When Gail discovers Romi has been living in her house, she is curiously drawn to the young woman. Romi is torn between feeling guilty for lying to Gail and enamored of her, and she fears the truth will set them on a path toward heartbreak.

Romi Shepherd est sans abri à New York et survit à peine en chantant pour quelques centimes dans le métro. Après avoir été arrêtée à tort, elle retourne en auto-stop dans le Rhode Island et, faute d'argent et d'options, se cache dans une pièce secrète de la maison où elle a grandi, ignorant que le nouveau propriétaire est sur le point de s'installer définitivement.
Lorsque Gail découvre que Romi vit dans sa maison, elle est curieusement attirée par la jeune femme. Romi est déchirée entre le sentiment de culpabilité d'avoir menti à Gail et l'amour qu'elle lui porte, et elle craint que la vérité ne les mette sur la voie du chagrin.

Je tiens à remercier les éditions Bold strokes books et le site Netgalley qui m'ont permis de lire ce livre.
Ce qui m'a donné en vie de lire ce livre, c'est aussi bien la jolie couverture de ce livre et son résumé.
On y retrouve la violoniste Gail Owen qui suite à un accident de voiture ne peux plus jouer de son instrument fétiche. Elle a pourtant une renommée mondiale. Elle va aller dans une ferme isolée dans le Rhode Island. Quant à Romi c'est une sans abris qui y arrive à peine en chantant dans le métro new-yorkais. Arrêtée à tort elle se retire dans le Rhode Island et se cache dans une pièce secrète de la ferme où Gail en est la nouvelle propriétaire qui s'installe pour de bon. Gail va découvrir que Romi se cache chez elle, ce qui va l'attirer. Romi se sent coupable de mentir à Gail et sur les sentiments qu'elle a envers elle. Elle craint que cela ne ce finisse mal entre elles.
J'ai adoré ce livre, j'ai passé de bons moments en compagnie de Gail et Romi qui étaient très attachantes et j'ai accroché de suite à l'histoire si captivante, émouvante à certains passages du livre, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements. J'adore la plume de l'auteure si addictive.

What brought me alive to read this book is both the pretty cover and the summary of the book.
It features violinist Gail Owen who, following a car accident, can no longer play her favourite instrument. Yet she is world-renowned. She's going to an isolated farm in Rhode Island. As for Romi, she's a homeless woman who can barely make it by singing in the New York subway. Wrongly arrested she retires to Rhode Island and hides in a secret room of the farm where Gail is the new owner who settles for good. Gail's gonna find out that Romi's hiding out at her place, which is gonna draw her in. Romi feels guilty about lying to Gail and about her feelings for her. She's afraid that it's going to end badly between them.
I loved this book, I had a great time with Gail and Romi who were very engaging and I immediately hooked into the story that was so captivating, moving in some parts of the book, full of suspense and twists. I love the author's writing so addictive.
