Le corps d'une jeune femme est retrouvé en Lozère. Au regard des éléments qu'ils détiennent, les enquêteurs de la SR de Nîmes se forgent rapidement un avis : elle a fait l'objet d'une chasse à l'homme... Pour le capitaine Merlot, d'Interpol, les conclusions médico-légales placent cette victime dans une longue série. Les gendarmes nîmois vont alors apprendre à leur grande stupéfaction, qu'Interpol tente depuis vingt-cinq ans de démanteler un réseau de trafic d'êtres humains. Louis Barthes, notaire à la retraite, est à la recherche de sa sœur jumelle dont il ignorait l'existence. Ses démarches vont a peu à peu le faire remonter jusqu'à une poignée d'orphelins juifs dont la fuite vers l'Espagne s'est arrêtée dans les Pyrénées... Jeune adolescent de 13 ans, surdoué, Bruno passe des vacances dans les Pyrénées quand il tombe dans un dangereux torrent et est emporté par les flots. Il parvient miraculeusement à s'extirper des eaux tumultueuses, et cherchant de l'aide, découvre une communauté vivant hors temps et hors réalité dirigée par une grande prêtresse qui se fait appeler Virinaë. Trois fils que Céline Denjean tisse ensemble dans un suspens et une tension exceptionnels, et surtout avec sa remarquable maîtrise du récit révélée dans ses précédents romans.

The body of a young woman is found in Lozere. In view of the elements they hold, the investigators of the SR of Nîmes quickly form an opinion: she was the subject of a manhunt . For Captain Merlot of Interpol, the forensic conclusions place this victim in a long series. The Nîmes gendarmes will then learn to their amazement that Interpol has been trying for twenty-five years to dismantle a human trafficking network. Louis Barthes, a retired notary public, is looking for his twin sister whom he did not know existed. His steps will gradually lead him to a handful of Jewish orphans whose escape to Spain has stopped in the Pyrenees... As a gifted 13-year-old teenager, Bruno is on holiday in the Pyrenees when he falls into a dangerous torrent and is swept away. He miraculously manages to extricate himself from the tumultuous waters, and looking for help, discovers a community living out of time and out of reality led by a high priestess who calls herself Virinaë. Three sons that Celine Denjean weaves together in exceptional suspense and tension, and above all with her remarkable mastery of storytelling revealed in her previous novels.
Mon avis :
Depuis le temps que je voulais lire ce livre voilà qui est fait. J'adore la plume de l'auteure si addictive, une fois que je me plonge dans un de ses livres je ne le lâche plus d'une semelle tellement j'accroche de suite à l'histoire si captivante, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages toujours aussi très attachants. Ce thriller m'a tenu en haleine du début à la fin. Un vrai coup de cœur. Trop hâte de lire la fille de Kali.
Tout commence quand le corps d'une jeune femme est retrouvé en Lozère et tout porte à croire d'après le SR de Nîmes qu'il y a eu chasse à l'homme. Les gendarmes qui enquêtent vont devoir faire équipe avec Interpol et apprendre que des crimes comme cela il y en a d'autres et que cela fait plus de vingt ans qu'ils recherchent les auteurs. Quant au notaire à la retraite Louis Barthes il apprend qu'il a une sœur jumelle depuis peu. Il va apprendre que des orphelins juifs auraient fuis vers l'Espagne mais sa piste s'arrête dans les Pyrénées. Et le jeune Bruno à 13 ans tombe dans un torrent et en réussissant à sortir miraculeusement des flots il va tomber sur une drôle de communauté qui vit hors du temps dirigée par une certaine Virinae. Ces trois histoires nous tiennent en haleine du début à la fin.
Une série à lire absolument.
My point of view :
Since I've been wanting to read this book for so long, now I have. I love the author's addictive writing, once I dive into one of her books I never let go of it, so much so that I immediately get hooked on the captivating story, full of suspense and twists and turns with characters who are always so endearing. This thriller kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. A real favourite. Too eager to read Kali's daughter.
It all begins when the body of a young woman is found in Lozere and everything leads us to believe that, according to the SR of Nîmes, there was a manhunt. The gendarmes who are investigating will have to team up with Interpol and learn that there are other crimes like this and that they have been looking for the perpetrators for more than twenty years. As for retired notary Louis Barthes, he learns that he recently had a twin sister. He learns that Jewish orphans have fled to Spain but his trail ends in the Pyrenees. At the age of 13, young Bruno falls into a torrent and, as he miraculously manages to get out of the waves, he comes across a strange community that lives outside of time, led by a certain Virinae. These three stories keep us in suspense from beginning to end.
A series to read absolutely.
