Ken Bruen received a doctorate in metaphysics, taught English in South Africa, and then became a crime novelist. The critically acclaimed author of twelve previous Jack Taylor novels and The White Trilogy, he is the recipient of two Barry Awards and two Shamus Awards and has twice been a finalist for the Edgar Award. Jack Taylor has never quite been able get his life together, but now he has truly hit rock bottom. Still reeling from a violent family tragedy, Taylor is busy drowning his grief in Jameson and uppers, as usual, when a high-profile officer in the local Garda is murdered.
After another Guard is found dead, and then another, Taylor's old colleagues from the force implore him to take on the case. The plot is one big game, and all of the pieces seem to be moving at the behest of one dangerously mysterious team: a trio of young killers with very different styles, but who are united in their common desire to take down Jack Taylor. Their ring leader is Jericho, a psychotic girl from Galway who is grieving the loss of her lover, and who will force Jack to confront some personal trauma from his past.
As sharp and sardonic as it is starkly bleak and violent, Galway Girl shows master raconteur Ken Bruen at his best: lyrical, brutal, and ceaselessly suspenseful.

Jack Taylor n'a jamais vraiment réussi à se remettre sur pied, mais il a maintenant atteint le fond du gouffre. Encore sous le choc d'une violente tragédie familiale, Taylor est occupé à noyer son chagrin dans Jameson et ses supérieurs, comme d'habitude, lorsqu'un officier de haut rang de la police locale est assassiné.
Après qu'un autre garde ait été retrouvé mort, puis un autre, les anciens collègues de Taylor l'implorent de s'occuper de l'affaire. L'intrigue est un grand jeu, et toutes les pièces semblent bouger sur l'ordre d'une équipe dangereusement mystérieuse : un trio de jeunes tueurs aux styles très différents, mais qui sont unis dans leur désir commun de faire tomber Jack Taylor. Leur chef de bande est Jéricho, une jeune fille psychotique de Galway qui pleure la perte de son amant et qui va forcer Jack à faire face à un traumatisme personnel de son passé.
Aussi tranchante et sardonique que sombre et violente, Galway Girl montre le maître conteur Ken Bruen sous son meilleur jour : lyrique, brutal et sans cesse plein de suspense.
Mon avis :
Je tiens à remercier les éditions Mysterious Press et le site Netgalley qui m'ont permis de lire ce livre.
Ce livre est le quinzième de la série Jack Taylor et mon premier de cet auteur, quand j'ai fais la demande sur le site Netgalley je ne savais pas que c'était une série.
On y retrouve Jack Taylor qui peine à se remettre d'une tragédie familiale jusqu'au jour où un officier haut placé dans la police locale est tué et d'autres officiers sont retrouvés mort. Taylor va enquêter sur un trio de jeunes bizarres, qui veulent faire tomber Taylor, leur chef étant une fille psychotique de Galway qui pleure la mort de son amant.
Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché à l'histoire si captivante, addictive, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages attachants.

This book is the fifteenth in the Jack Taylor series and my first by this author, when I requested it on the Netgalley site I didn't know it was a series.
It features Jack Taylor struggling to recover from a family tragedy until one day a high ranking officer in the local police force is killed and other officers are found dead. Taylor is going to investigate a trio of weird young people, who want to bring Taylor down, their leader being a psychotic girl from Galway who is mourning the death of her lover.
A book read in one go, so much so that I hooked on the story, so captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters.
