Les amateurs de série ont peut-être déjà entendu parler d’Arnaud Malherbe. Le réalisateur d’Ogre s’est fait connaître en créant la mini-série fantastique Moloch, diffusée fin 2020 sur Arte. C’est aussi à lui que l’on doit la série Chefs, diffusée quelques années auparavant, et qui mettait en scène Clovis Cornillac dans les cuisines d’un restaurant. Cet ancien journaliste d’origine normande a puisé dans ses souvenirs d’enfance pour réaliser son premier long-métrage. Grandissant à la campagne, il a souvent été confronté à la solitude durant des nuits noires, où il pouvait imaginer qu’il se déroulait toutes sortes de choses à l’extérieur. Le film s’inscrit dans une veine actuelle du cinéma français de renouveler le cinéma fantastique et les figures, classiques ou non, associées (loup garou, invasion de sauterelles, et en l’occurrence ogre). N’oublions pas par ailleurs que les contes de notre enfance comptent
