Cela va vous sembler étrange, mais c'est ma deuxième tentative pour lire ce roman. La première fois, je n'ai pas pu aller au bout. Il me semblait long et les personnages trop éloignés de mon univers. Quelques années ont passées et j'ai le sentiment que ces personnages ont plus en commun avec nous tous qu'il n'y paraît. Chacun a à faire des choix et ceux_ci doivent conduire à plus de liberté. C'est pourquoi c'est si difficile de comprendre les choix d'autrui car ils sont individuels et personnels. Chacun choisit selon son caractère, sa sensibilité, son histoire et son éducation. Les facteurs ont nombreux.
Patty, à la sortie de l'université, choisit de devenir mère au foyer. C'est surprenant car elle était une joueuse de basket performante. Elle est volontaire et très intelligente.
