The Ocean
I feel my feet kick off the ground,
A gentle push up, not to be drowned.
Total silence at this bottom end,
While Archimedes helps me ascend.
I barely gulp some oxygen,
Too much pressure in this dungeon.
Complete darkness all around me,
Even my own bubbles I cannot see.

I am rising, a bit anxious,
Moving up, I am suspicious.
But skyward clarity lifts my spirit,
Powerful thrust to which I commit.
Face up, back down in dark waters,
I am rising towards what matters.
Outside’s echoes strangely muffled,
As I rush up to the surface, scuffled.
Air grows rich and my lungs expand,
While the pressure recesses and my pulse stand.
The sky is a faint halo of light,
As I keep soaring with all my might.
