The Vampire Strikes Back

Pour les amateurs de Star Wars, le jeu de mot sera évident. Pour les autres, il fait référence à The Empire Strikes Back, au film qui était pour nous le 2e volet de la saga, puisque l’Episode I n’est sorti qu’un an après l’écriture de ce morceau.
La référence à l’oeuvre de Georges Lucas s’arrête strictement là, car la chanson donne dans un tout autre registre.
En toute honnêteté, ce morceau n’était que le prétexte à utiliser le jeu de mot. Et il aurait pu tout aussi bien rester dans un carton sans les souvenirs liés à sa création et à la recherche de musiciens pour former un groupe que mon guitariste et moi n’avions plus.
Musicalement, j’avais eu un vrai coup de cœur pour l’album Better Than Raw (Helloween, 1998). Je voulais faire un “truc comme ça”. Peut-être un peu ambitieux pour moi. Mais je me suis follement amusé. L’influence d’Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne
