Sous la pluie chaude de l'été,

Un vagabond négligé

Est allé se balader

Sur les Champs Élysées.

En voitures, très élégantes,

Passent de belles femmes, souriantes.

Il était tout seul et triste,

Il n' était qu'un pauvre artiste.

Âme solitaire comme une tombe,

Yeux tristes, regard sombre.

Sous la pluie chaude de l' été,

Il marchait, il marmonnait,

Lentement, sa tête pênchée.

De son coeur il espèrait

Voir la chance se retourner.

Sous la pluie chaude de l' été,

Il n'est pas le seul à pleurer
